Santa Visits

Santa VisitSanta is visiting kids and their families in local neighborhoods from 6:00-8:00pm in the evening. If he doesn’t make it down your street, you can also visit with him from 8:00-9:00pm at the end of his route. Please check our Facebook page for the most recent news about which neighborhood he will be visiting.

And don’t forget, Santa relies on his Firefighter elves, so a high volume of emergency calls may affect his visit. Any changes to the schedule will be noted on Facebook as soon as possible.

Public Safety Citizens Academy

Florissant Police Department and Florissant Valley Fire Protection District to Co-host a Public Safety Citizen Academy

Florissant Police Chief Timothy Lowery and Florissant Valley Fire Protection District Chief Scott Seppelt are happy to announce that their two agencies will be co-hosting the second annual Public Safety CitizensAcademystarting on August 26, 2015. The course would be held every Wednesday from August 26th thru October 21st from 6:30-9:30pm at either the Florissant Police Station or the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District, Fire House #1.

The Citizen Academy is a 9-week educational, citizen involvement activity designed by the Police and Fire Departments as part of their goal to be involved with the residents that they serve. The goal of this class is to promote understanding between citizens and police officers and fire fighters regarding their respective needs and concerns. By promoting this understanding it is hoped that the citizens and police and fire departments will work better together.

This is a unique opportunity for citizens to experience a taste of police and fire training through classroom participation and practical exercises. Some areas of training include narcotics investigation, traffic crash investigation, crime scene processing, firearms, first aid, fire science, vehicle extraction, fire attack, and more. Role-playing is done to emphasize the training.

We are currently taking reservations for the next Citizen Academy class. The Academy is open to residents age 18 and over who complete the application process and sign a liability waiver. It should be noted that physical activity will be required when doing some of the practical exercises. The cost to attend the Academy will be $10, which includes a Public Safety Citizens Academy T-Shirt. The class will be limited to 24 participants.

Anyone interested in attending this class can obtain an application on the Florissant Police Department’s website at www.florissantmo.com under Action Center or call or email Officer Craig DeHart at 314-830-6042 or cdehart@florissantmo.com.
