Outdoor burning is regulated to protect people, property, and air quality. Requirements vary by the type of burning and current conditions, so review the St. Louis County Open Burning Ordinance and confirm any restrictions before you begin. When in doubt, contact the Fire Marshal's Office.
The governing ordinance
Open burning within the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District follows the St. Louis County Open Burning Ordinance, which sets out what is and is not permitted, along with conditions for allowable burning. The ordinance is listed with the District's other code documents.
