Chief of Department

Jason HoevelmannA message from Chief Hoevelmann:

Thank you for visiting the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District website and your interest in our organization.

The Florissant Valley Fire Protection District was founded in 1919 and has transformed from a small volunteer department to the professional group of career Firefighter/Paramedics it is today. This year marks our 100th anniversary and we encourage our community to stop in and see your state-of-the-art fire and emergency services equipment and visit with our dedicated and highly trained firefighters and paramedics.

The District takes pride in its ability to serve the needs of the community. Each year our residents call upon our 60 Firefighter/Paramedics to respond to medical emergencies, structure fires, technical rescues, hazardous material incidents and vehicle accidents. The District responds to over 11,000 emergency calls a year, making it the second busiest fire agency in St. Louis County. In addition to responding to emergency incidents, our members spend many more hours training, performing routine maintenance on equipment and meeting the public education needs or our community with pride and honor.

I am proud to represent and serve for such a fine organization and am continually impressed on a daily basis with the compassion and resourcefulness of the men and women of our Department and their commitment to the residents and businesses of our District.  Our mission, which is demonstrated everyday by our members, is to be here for you, when you need us and to put those we serve before ourselves.

Please don’t hesitate to call or send me a message if you have any questions or concerns about your fire district and the services we provide.

Chief Jason Hoevelmann was sworn in as Chief of Department January 29, 2019.  Chief Hoevelmann was previously a Battalion Chief and long-time fire service instructor and author.
