Firefighters Rescue Dogs From House Fire

On November 20,2011 Firefighters responded to a house fire in the 300 block of St. Louis St. Upon arrival the homeowners were out of the house but not their two pet dogs. With heavy smoke venting from the entire structure Firefighters entered the house found the dogs and extinguished the fire. The first dog was found in the basement where the fire originated and was lifeless when removed. Paramedics used a special oxygen mask designed for dogs that was recently donated to the fire district by a pet organization and revived the dog. The second dog was found and only required minor attention. After a short stay at a local Veterinary clinic it was reported they were doing fine. The unfortunate circumstances of this fire during this holiday season is something we never get use to seeing, but when you have the opportunity to save a life it helps all involved. The Members of the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District graciously accept the gratitude of our residents and wish all a very Safe and Happy Holiday Season.
